Some youth of Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region have declared a suspected homosexual of the town a wanted person.
The youth claimed that the suspect was a known homosexual but there was no evidence of his activities until he was caught pants down.
According to them, the rate at which homosexuality is growing has become alarming and that it is a sacrilege and an insult to the ancestors adding that they will now be extra vigilant to expose and root out all gays from the town.
An eyewitness said the suspected gay took to his heels when an alarm was raised after he was caught but was chased and seized by the youth who marched him to the chief’s palace.
The suspected gay nearly lynched by the youth is believed to be in his teens and was identified as Musah Adamu and has since fled the town.
The eye witness said the intervention of some residents of the town who pleaded on his behalf did not restrain the assailants from subjecting him to severe beatings until he collapsed and was later revived.
At the chief’s palace, the eyewitness continued that the suspect pleaded with his attackers to allow him to use the toilet facility at the chief’s palace, but it was only a ruse to escape through the roof of the toilet.
The chief unhappy with the development called on the youth of the town to help bring him back to perform some rituals to cleanse the town.
The chief and elders have therefore promised a reward to anyone with information that leads to his whereabouts.
