Daughters Ministries International celebrates widows in Ghana

As part of its efforts of putting a smile on the faces of the Widows in the society, Daughters Ministries International, has taken a giant step by embarking on a program dubbed: “ Back to the 60’s 2017 ” in Accra.

This year’s program which was celebrated in grand style during the weekend attracted over 300 widows from all walks of life.
In an interview with the Founder of Daughters Ministries International Lady Rev. Dr. Abena Tay, the brain child pet of the Back to the 60’s 2017 programme, she noted that the program was held as a ChariFest in honour of Widows in fulfillment of James 1:27, which state: “Religion that our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself from polluted by the world”.

Rev. Dr. Tay, expressed her dissatisfaction with the manner in which widows are being treated in the society.
“We have totally turned a blind eye to them. They have been accused of possessing the spirit of witchcraft in the society.

Some widows have been blamed for their husband’s death, kicked out the family homes or forced to undergo humiliating widowhood rituals”, she expressed worry.
According to her, it is high time to eschew such atrocious acts against widows; and rather show them love in order to help them overcome their anxieties and the challenges confronting them.

The widows enjoyed rice and stew meal and soft drinks. More so, a platform was created for the widows’ to display their dancing skills.
This year’s program was full of fun as the participants dressed in old school 60’s attire just to bring old memories back. Daughters Ministries International has been organizing this programme yearly.
