In a related development, the Women’s Wing of the Takoradi District of the Maritime and Dockworkers’ Union of the Trades Union, Ghana, has also celebrated the International Women’s day in a parade across the city of Takoradi.
The parade was to sensitize the community, on gender equality in the Ghanaian society.
Shirley Braimah, the District Chairperson of the MDU, called for the women in the maritime industry to serve as worthy models to encourage more women participation in the industry.
“Our impact must be felt in the maritime industry. I want to tell the women not to relax. But we need to push to make sure that other mothers would see and say it is time to send their children especially the girl child into the maritime industry,” she said.
