I won’t disappoint Ghanaians – Akufo-Addo assures

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has re-assured Ghanaians that he is working assiduously to redeem all the 2016 campaign promises he made to Ghanaians in order to transform Ghana’s economy for the prosperity of the people in the country.

“What l have been hearing currently was that Ghanaians are saying that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government came to deceive them.

“But l want to say that l will not deceive and cannot disappoint Ghanaians and l will make sure to put in place effective measures to fulfill my campaign promises thereby to transform the economy in order to put money into individual pockets,” President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance when he was addressing NPP faithful at the 25th annual National Delegates’ Congress in Cape Coast in the Central Region on Saturday.

According to President Akufo-Addo, bad economic policies by the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration have made the country endowed with much economic wealth to become poorer.

He said soon he was currently dealing with the huge debt left behind by former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress administration.

“Soon, people will begin to see the good things the NPP promised Ghanaians,” the president assured.

Earlier, the President said the major preoccupation of the government was to create an enabling environment for the private sector to create more jobs for the people.

“It is not possible for all of us to have jobs in the state machinery. There are not enough jobs here,” the president said.

On corruption, Mr. Akufo-Addo sounded a word of caution to his appointees about the future of the New Patriotic Party, stressing that the continuous stay in power of the elephant family will very much depend on their conduct in office.

In his opinion, it was only through the show of respect and humility to the Ghanaian people that the NPP will stay in power for many years.

Any act of insubordination and show of opulence, he added, will result in the party being kicked out of government by the very people who voted them into power.

“The future of our party is about the success of this government. And the success of the government is about our conduct. Each one of us, beginning with me, the President, through the Vice-President, through the Chief of Staff, through the Ministers of State and their deputies, through Regional Ministers and their deputies, Regional Chairmen and their executives, the executives and the people they put in, District Chief Executives – our conduct is what will determine the success of our government.”
