Assembly To Arrest, Prosecute Corvid-19 Protocol Violators

The Agona West Municipal Assembly will soon implement the law that criminalizes the violation of protocols as enshrined in the law, especially wearing of nose masks by arresting and punishing such offenders.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan disclosed this during the nationwide fumigation exercise at social places of gathering such as markets and lorry parks in Agona Swedru.

She reiterated that the Assembly would soon introduce task force personnel to support the police to enforce the law.

According to the MCE, anybody arrested would be made to engage in communal labour such as dissolving of drainages and sweeping of major streets to serve as deterrent to others.

She said the move is to help curtail the spread of the Corona Virus in the country.

The fumigation exercise was carried out under the auspices of the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development.
