GENDER MINISTER RE-ELECTED

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and New Partriotic Party’s (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Agona West Constituency, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has been re-elected during the primaries held by delegates of the party as the MP to contest the upcoming 2020 general elections.

She obtained 584 of the total votes cast as against her other contestants, three times former Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Kweku Obodai and one Yawson Otoo who obtained 71 and 23 votes respectively. She is the first female Member of Parliament for the area since the introduction of democratic governance in the country in 1992.

Her re-election was described by supporters of the party in the Constituency as a win for the NPP in 2020.

Addressing the teeming supporters of the party, Cynthia Mamle Morrison assured that she will do her best to retain her seat and the NPP as a party in the Constituency in the general elections.
