LET’S RESPECT COVID-19 PROTOCOL

The Mankrado of Agona Nkum in the Central Region, Nana Mprah Afful V has appealed to Ghanaians to respect and abide by the protocols announced by the president with regards to the fight against the spread of the Corona virus pandemic which has claimed over 200,000 lives worldwide.
Nana Mprah Afful who made the appeal during a visit to his palace warned the public not to see the disease as a mere health problem, but rather as a threat to humanity.
According to him, as part of measures to help stop the spread of the disease in the area during the lock down period, they as Chiefs met with the people of the town and advised parents to report any child who might sneak from any of the lock down areas to them so that they can liase with the health post in the town to test any such person to know his or her status and take the necessary steps, should anyone test positive of the virus.
He however noted that though there are 19 recorded cases in the region, not a single case has been recorded in the area so far.
According to Nana Mprah Afful, he was supposed to hold a one week funeral rite of his late mother the same week that the lock down was announced, but he had to suspend the celebration because of the announcement of the protocol of social distancing and the banning of social gathering by the president.
He however hinted that such protocols such as wearing of nose mask and constant washing and sanitizing of the hands are not strictly adhered to in the rural communities, blaming it on little or no education of the dangers associated to the contracting of the virus in such areas.
He therefore called for the consideration of free distribution of nose masks in such areas to help fight the spread of the pandemic, as majority of the people in these areas cannot afford to buy them.
He later commended the government for taking bold decisions in the fight against the spread of the disease.
