The New Patriotic Party Youth of Mpraeso Constituency, an umbrella body of youth within the Kwahu Mpraeso constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have declared their massive support for the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong ahead of Saturday’s parliamentary primaries.
This was made known to journalist during a press conference section dubbed *”The truth must be told”* at the Eastern Palace Court at Kwahu Atibie on Thursday.
Speaking to our news team, chairman for the NPP Youth of Mpraeso Constituency, Mr. Gideon Ofosu indicated that, their reasons for the press conference and declaration of support for the incumbent Member of Parliament was to clear the air on some allegations that purports to say that, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong has little to show for his twelve years of leadership to the constituency.
According to him, the facts remain that, from 2009 to 2012 when the incumbent went to the parliament house, the NPP were the minority and opposition and found things very difficult but the MP worked very hard to sustain the peace unity and stability of the constituency and also brought the little developmental opportunity he had to the people of Mpraeso.
The chairman of the youth group further stated that, the incumbent MP used majority of his common fund during the period in sponsoring the education of many vulnerable youth in the constituency.
*”Let me put on records that if you cross check from Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong file at the assembly, you realise that, majority of his common funds was invested in to the education of children and youth of this constituency, for instance he has paid fees for some of us and our friends to be able to further our education, again he has built many educational infrastructure such as 3unit classroom block at Kwahu Prado, built a JHS block at Osubeng, renovated the Methodist JHS and primary schools just to mention a few. He has also distributed library materials to all schools in the area and combined all past questions into a booklet and distributed to all JHS final year candidates to enhance their chances of passing their exams well and many other developmental projects that he has brought to the constituency, including the over 350 youth who have been employed into the various security services” he said.
Mr. Gideon Ofosu however appealed to all delegates to vote massively for him come Saturday because there is more to be done by the incumbent MP when he wins on Saturday.
The Public Relations Officer for the youth group, Mr. Richard Acheampong also reiterated that, the entire youth of Mpraeso Constituency are declaring their massive support for Hon. Seth Acheampong because of his hard work and exemplary leadership over the past twelve years.
He has also challenged some individuals who have been appointed by the government and are hiding behind the other candidate, OPK to contest the Mpraeso seat, to come out and confess the fact that they are the ones pushing Mr. Dennis Opoku Ansah, aka OPK to contest the incumbent MP.
*”We are aware of certain persons who are hiding behind the scenes and supporting OPK financially to contest Hon. Kwame Acheampong but that won’t yield any good results for them because we know how hard Hon. Acheampong has worked to keep this constituency together in unity and strength, even in opposition. Because one good thing deserves another, we will make sure that he leads the constituency for 20 years. Let me also say to our respected delegates that, when OPK and his people give you the refrigerators, plasma television sets and Gh¢ 3,000.00, kindly accept it but vote massively for Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong for the betterment of Mpraeso constituency “*. He said.
Owusu Nyedu Prince, one of the youth who attended the press conference also told our news team that, Mr. Dennis Opoku Ansah, aka OPK until now has not been able to tell the people where exactly he comes from in the Kwahu Ridge and therefore he cannot decide for the people of the constituency, after he couldn’t manage the position as a poling station executive in 2008.
The press conference was attended by some party executives, leadership of driver unions, traders and some youth, while the wearing of nose masks, washing of hand and social distancing was highly observed.
Miss Vida Effah, the Kwahu Ridge commander for the Staunch Queens of NPP who also graced the occasion on her part, lauded the incumbent MP for his love for humanity and hard work as leader of the party for the past twelve years.
According to her, the Staunch Queens have enjoyed great collaboration and support from the incumbent MP, since the inception of the group in Kwahu and therefore appealing to the delegates to vote massively for Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong come Saturday.
