The Teshie Mantse, Gbetsoolo Nii Ashitey Akomfra III and the Teshie Traditional Council has celebrated the 3rd installation anniversary at the Teshie Mantse Palace in Accra.
The Traditional Council on December 14th this year marked the 32nd anniversary of the death of the Teshie Mantse, Nii Ashikwei Akomfra III for his selfless contributions towards the development of Teshie.
Addressing the gathering, the Teshie Mantse revealed that the journey towards his three Years milestone had not been easy, adding that with the help God and public-spirited individuals, he (Gbetsoolo) had managed to restore the image of the town.
Enumerating a few of his achievements in three years as Teshie Mantse, he cited two massive clean-ups of the community and the Sangonaa Landing Bay with the support of Zoomlion, Daben Cleansing service, LEKMA, Field Engineer Regiment and among others.
He added that two massive mosquito spraying exercises at the catchment areas of the Kpeshie and Sango Lagoons, assistance to distresses basic schools and girl-child associations, peace initiatives leading to a violence-free Homowa for two years, community Health-Screening, Scholarship Scheme for two needy children and among other community development initiatives.
The Teshie Traditional Council he said has established external relations with its next door neighbours like Katamanso, Ga Mashie, Osu, Kweiman, Abokobi, Nungua and Ayikuma adding that a number of high profile personalities, Heads of Institutions and Opinion Leaders had visited the Teshie Mantse Palace to extend courtesies and goodwill messages to the 18th occupant of the Teshie Black Stool.
On reconciliation, Gbetsoolo Nii Ashitey Akomfra III revealed that a lot of grounds were covered for the creation of a platform for Unity Talks among the various factions of the Teshie Chieftaincy divide.
According to him, with the intervention of the former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Professor Emmanuel Martey and the Greater Accra Representative on the Council of State, Dr. Kotei Dzanie contributed to the success story of peace in Teshie.
He further revealed that the Teshie Mantse Palace had cultivated a very strong rapport with the print and electronic media. This he said has brought Teshie to the media limelight after many years of negativev media reportage and the Palace activities the banner headlines and the TV screens at regular intervals.
