The biggest tree in West Africa to see facelift.

The chief executive officer of Ghana Tourism Development Company Ms Akofa Dukosi together with the Eastern Regional manager of the Forestry Commission and his deputy has visit the Chief Executive Officer of Asene Manso Akroso District Hon Alex Inkoom and the chief of Akyem Manso Obrimpong Sintim Poku III who double as the Nifahene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council to delibrate on issues concerning the facelift of the biggest tree in West Africa.

The tree which is believed to be the biggest tree in West Africa is located at a forest in Akyem Aprokumase in Asene Manso Akroso district in the Eastern Region and is believe to be about 90 meters in hight and 360 in diameter.

The tree is locally known as Big Tree and is of the Bako specie’s and it’s botanically called Tieghemela heckle.

This magnificent tree is believe to be about 350 to 400 years of age.

The District Executive Officer of Asene Manso Akroso hon Alex Inkoom in his address taskes the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Tourism Development Company and Eastern Regional manager of forestry commission and his deputy to explore other potential tourist site in the district.

He promise them that he himself together with the chief of Akyem Manso Obrimpong Sintim Poku III will give maximum cooperation and support in transforming and enhancing the current status of the biggest tree in West Africa into a modern tourist site by the end of 2019.

Ms Akofa Dukosi the deputy chief executive officer of Ghana Tourism Development Company assured them of given facelift to the tourist site.
