CAP 30 still in force – Gov’t assures police

Government has assured the police and other security agencies that their pension scheme, CAP 30, has and will not been withdrawn.
This comes in the wake of a publication making rounds that the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has directed the withdrawal of the scheme.
A release issued on Wednesday, February 26 by a Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, said the “false” and “maliciously fabricated” story was aimed at courting disaffection for the government.
“Government by this release, reiterates its position that it has not and does not intend to withdraw CAP 30 Pension Scheme or any Pension Scheme of any of the country’s Security Services.
“Government will not make any changes that will make the police or any security personnel worse off, not while serving or on retirement,” the release said.
Government said the words of the Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, to the security services on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the police headquarters still hold.
“The Ghana Police Service will not be migrated from CAP 30 as being rumoured since Govenrment recognizes the supreme sacrifices it makes for the country,” Mr Dery had said last year.
