Activities to Commemorate 10th Anniversary Of Prof. J. E. A. Mills announced

The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage (JEAMMH) led by Mr. Alex Segbefia, has announced the activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the demise of the late President Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills in Accra.

The Heritage since it’s launched on 1st February 2022, continued to implement programmes in pursuance of its objectives. The late Professor governed Ghana for over 43 months, and died peaceful whilst in office on the 24th of July 2012,ten years ago.

At a press conference held at the International Press Centre in Accra, the Chairman of the JEAMMH, Alex Segbefia, who double as member of the National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), indicated that a wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service would be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Asomdwee Park near the Black Star Square in Accra.

There will be a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu; Muslim prayers on July 22, 2022, and a hockey tournament on July 23, 2022.

He further stated that the activities would be climaxed with an anniversary commemorative lecture on July 26, 2022 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

According him, the lecture to be delivered by legal luminary Tsatsu Tsikata will be chaired by the Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who is also the Chairman of the Council of State.

Mr Segbefia, Director of International Relations for National Democrat Congress (NDC) stressed that the wreath-laying ceremony was being organised by the NDC while the ruling government was also organising another separate event.

Nana Oye Addo, A member of the institute observed that Prof. J.E.A.Mills left behind a legacy of devotion to the development of the youth through sports, as well as a commitment to education and the pursuit of excellence among others.

Speaking with Ghana News Online, the former Gender minister under the Mahama led administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo said they will visit various mosques in the Greater Accra metropolis for special prayer for the late Professor.

She therefore expressed her profund gratitude to Ghanaians for heavily patronizing the first two regional lectures in Tamale and Cape Coast and launched of Atta Mills Memorial Heritage in Accra respectively. And called for Ghanaians to emulate the lifestyle of the late President.
