Headmaster of the Ada Senior High School, Kojo Ayibor is lamenting the continuous stealing of the school’s properties including office computers leading to the lost of school’s data.
The headmaster who was briefing old students of the school about the challenge appealed to the old students to complete the school’s fence wall.
From a humble beginning some sixty years ago with just about eleven students, the school has transitioned into one of the best in the region.
Some high profile personalities including the Presiding Bishop of Accra of the Methodist Church, formal Member of the Council of State, Dr. Kotei Dzani and the DCE of Ada West are all past students of the Ada SHS.
At the launch of the school’s 60th anniversary, many of these high profile personalities were were present to encourage present students to take their lessons seriously.
But according to the Headmaster of the school, Kojo Ayibor the lack of a complete fence wall around the school has become a motivation for thieves to alway get into compus to steal valuable items of the school.
He used the opportunity to charge the old students who have already started with the fencing of the to ensure its completion.
In addition, the headmaster of the school noted even though the students are performing better at their various elective subjects, more is needed to be done when it comes to the core subjects as the immediate past result was not encouraging.
According to him, even though the situation can be attributed to the lack of teachers previously, he is quick to add that through constant appeal, government is currently sending more teachers to the school but the school lacks teachers bungalows.
He said the school is calling on cooperate Ghana as well as the old students and government to support teachers and the school with bungalows to curtail teachers lateness and absenteeism.
President of the Old Students Association known as Nimeli, Gideon Carlos Akweh believes it is time for the school to meet all standards in attaining quality education. This he said the Nimeli would assist the school to attain.
“Already, the Nimeli have raised some parts of the fence wall and we are hoping to complete it this year” he said
We are now 60 years and it is our expectation that our school will be one of the best in the region and across the nation’ he added.
The Presiding Bishop of Accra of the Methodist Church who chaired the launch of the 60th anniversary advised the pupils to eschew all forms of social vices which has become predominant with the youth. He noted that issues of bisexuality or other forms of sexual immorality mostly begins from the secondary school but it will take self decipline for students to achieve their aims.
The occasion was used to sell the school’s anniversary clothes to raise funds for projects ahead.
The 60th anniversary celebration comes of in November this year under the theme “Senior High Education in Ghana, the role of stakeholders in sustaining Adasco beyond 60.
