The President of African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has commended the King of Morocco, King Mohammed VI (Founder of University Mohammed VI Polytechnic) for opening up a new environment for all Africans to acquire knowledge through quality university education.
He made this known during his visit to inspect the university’s environment in Morocco on Wednesday 27th July, 2022.
‘I am absolutely delighted to be here. I don’t want to leave because it’s a new way of learning; but I must firsts commend and congratulate his majesty, the king, Mohammed the VI for the vision that he has , actually for learning , for opening up the space not only for Moroccans but for Africans to learn to be immersed in their new environment for learning’ .
According to Dr Akinwumi Adesina, I have visited a lot of universities in America ,Europe , everywhere else ‘but this particular university stands out to be the best and has a different way of learning with world class infrastructure; World class faculty, It gives students the ability to learn in an open Platform .“This is quite impressive “some of the things that I notice is its innovativeness, creativity, the ability to release the power of the mind.
‘University Mohammed VI polytechnic has innovative technology, creativity and environment which has the ability to release the power of the mind’, he emphasized.
‘We went to a lab in which they were actually looking at the fellow typical characteristic of plants which is called the fellow mobile. for somebody like me with agriculture background , it’s mind boggling because it means that you can actually simulate in one environment all the stress factors that the plant has. It can reduce the stress and length of time for breading a crop with a particular fellow-typical characteristic plan from four years to one year’.
It has a Lab called 1337. This lab contains students with no education background and have no knowledge and training in computer sciences , had actually no knowledge of coding but want to be trained and groomed into computer science experts .This environment is how we grow together and how we teach each other’. He said.
Many students have graduated through this system and led them to find jobs and also helped them to create jobs for themselves. There’s also a digital learning Lab which facilitates digital learning training and also provides digital learning across countries. During the spread of the Covid 19, this facility connected so many universities all over the world to advance teaching and learning. They are accredited by some of the biggest universities in the world
“I’m impressed not because of their work but the generosity of King Mohammed VI and his staff at the OCP, Mr Terrab, CEO of OCP, and I wish all companies in Africa can do what OCP has done here “he added.
