The Vice Chairman of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region, Daniel Akpalu, has decried the continuous stay of some staunch members of the opposition NDC in important positions under the current government.
According to her, these people, through their actions are making the NPP government unpopular and scuttling the chances of the government winning the coming elections.
Daniel Akpalu who was speaking in an interview indicated that the Akufo-Addo led administration has allowed a staunch member of the NDC to head a whole sector of revenue collections in the country.
He mentioned that Madam Vigbedor, the Sector Commander of the Ghana Revenue Authority and Customs Division at Aflao, is taking advantage of her position to destroy peoples’ business thereby making government unpopular abroad.
According to her, Madam Vigbedor, took advantage of this position to destroy all business just to make government unpopular to the business community.
“It will surprise you that our own party members will vote against us during the general elections because their businesses have been destroyed under their own government,” he said.
Daniel Akpalu also averred that the economic growth and wages continue to slug and life is getting more expensive under the current government, not because government policies are not favourable but because people appointed to such positions are turning things against the government.
He said the December 7th, 2020 elections would be very difficult for the NPP if steps are not taken to address some of these issues.
“The NPP government may see this as a small matter but in reality this is affecting the party. What is happening today did not happen under any regime of any government, and must not be allowed to happen under the NPP,” he said.
Madam Vigbedor, he claimed, has been contracted by the NDC, the opposition party to do what she is doing to cause defeat of the ruling party.
He claimed Madam Vigbedor had resorted to a self-serving, reckless and fictitious ways of revenue collections in Aflao sector and she is determined to finally have her way even if the electoral systems would be skewed to favour the NDC.
He said: “The NPP supporters accused her of planning acts of sabotage against government. According to the supporters of the NPP here in Aflao, the behaviour of madam Vigbedor is the narcissist who cannot get beyond her own selfish interest.”
According to some NPP supporters, Madam Vigbedor still has links with the opposition NDC and therefore cannot be trusted.
“Her actions illustrate the results of the perils of poisonous ideologies left unchecked,” he said.
