Akyem Swedru MP want to tarnish Controller and Accountant General image…Team Controller alleged

The Friends of Controller and Accountant General have said that the MP for Akyem Swedru constituency in the Birim Central Municipality Eastern Region, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, wants to tarnish the image of Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General of the Republic of Ghana, without thinking about its consequences for Nana Akuffo Addo and the NPP party.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, the MP for Bongo constituency, Hon. Edward Bawa, made an emphatic statement against the Controller and Accountant General on the TV3 program “The Key Point” that the Controller and Accountant General has put delegates in the Akyem Swedru constituency on the government payroll for the past 2 years, and they have been receiving pay every month.

Communication member for Team Controller Nana Ofosu Afrifa, speaking to the media, stated that what Hon. Edward Bawa said on the show is unfortunate and also an absurdity that does not have a basis.

According to Hon. Bawa, as an NDC member of Parliament, his interest will be to destroy the NPP government just to score cheap political points for his party.

Our checks have revealed that the said information was given to him by the MP for Akyem Swedru constituency, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, just to tarnish the image of the Controller and Accountant General without thinking about the consequences on the Nana Akuffo Addo government and that of the NPP, and they will like to know the motive behind the MPS conduct.

He said they just want to place on record that the MP doesn’t have the constituency at executives and the poling station executives at heat, for which he wants to disgrace everyone in the constituency.

He said they want to tell him enough is enough and would not countenance such disgraceful conduct anymore; the constituency deserves better.

He encourages the delegates to stand firm and vote against the MP for what he has done. He urged the party faithful to be resolute, for there’s light ahead of them.

Nana Ofosu Afrifa said Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem is a self-made man long before he becomes the Controller and Accountant General, and if there’s a need to help delegates in the constituency, that will not be a burden that the state would have to bear. He has all it takes to execute his political ambitions in the not-too-distant future.

He noted that Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem remained credible, high on integrity, trustworthy, intelligent, and professionally competent, and he has significantly turned the public financial management system in Ghana around, for which reason he will never do anything to undermine his integrity.

At the time when Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem had his first unbroken period of work with the Controller and Accountant General Department way back, even before 1988, Hon. Edward Bawa, the Bongo MP, was just 15 years of age, and he did not even know how his fate would be in life. It would be proper to verify every piece of information before making it public.

He advised the Bongo MP not to allow himself to be manipulated by his colleague MP.

Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem has been a source of help to the district, the constituency, and the nation as a whole.

Edward Bawa succinctly exhibited his ignorance, just like his friend Ismael Akoto, who has identity issues, because if he were minded and not because of political expediency,he would have realized that it is even in the era of the current Controller and Accountant General that government workers on controller payroll have to be validated each month before they are paid. How then does he go for such an assignment to disgrace himself and create a bad name for the Controller and Accountant General, Mr. Kwesi Kwenin Bosompem?

Some of the delegates who speak to Oyerepa TV also deny the allegations made by Hon. Edward Bawa that they are on government payroll and have been receiving monthly payments from the Controller and Accountant General for the past 2 years.

They give Hon. Edward Bawa a two-week ultimatum to retract that statement and apologize for making false statements about them.
