Dear NDC,
I bring you greetings from my fishing village in Dutch Komenda. How is opposition? It’s been a little over 8 months since you handed over power to the NPP. How have you been faring since January of 2017? I want to believe that the good Lord is taking very good care of you in peace and unity. I also trust that by now you have come to the realization that political power is not a household deity that you can consult at will neither is it a royal bloodline where you are, by default, a custodian of power.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) started their governance for the next 4 years in flying colors. You will agree with me that they have so far been impressive in both the form and substance of the quality of leadership they have provided to Ghanaians thus far. The appetite to succeed is evident in how they have conducted themselves as well as their businesses. Focused, direct and dynamic.
It is obviously not a stainless start by the NPP administration. A couple of regrettable incidents occurred in the few months they have spent in office. However, the remarkable approach the government resorted to to address these challenges exemplified leadership that is effective.
As you might have heard over again, the NPP doesn’t just pride itself with the refrain “we have the men”. Indeed, they have the “men” and “women” who are willing and able to get the job done. If we should compare minister in the previous Mahama administration, the NPP ministers are far more goal oriented than we had in the last administration.
Napo, for example is a more efficient Minister for Education than Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang. Over the years, Technical and Vocational Institutions have been scattered across 5 or 6 Ministries and this makes quite challenging to effectively address their situations for maximum teaching and learning. To have the will power to put all technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutes under one roof for proper administration is a sign of strength and foresight. That is the stuff effective leaders are made of.
Same can be said for several ministers and their deputies in this government. Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, for example is miles ahead of Seth Tekper. Food and Agriculture Ministers Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto and Fiifi Kwetey cannot possibly be of the same standard. Ursela Owusu-Ekuful and Dr Omane Boamah at Communications Ministry, and finally chief Alan Kyeremanteng and Ekow Spoi-Gabrah at the Trade Ministry and Industry just to name a few.
The NPP is grateful to Ghanaians for the opportunity to serve them and to contribute to the collective development of our dear nation. They are humbled by the overwhelming support that have been received locally, on the continent and across the globe. It is my prayer that the almighty God grant them the energy to sustain this momentum for the betterment of the nation.
