“Bring Back Our King; Boni Tackie Adama Latse II” – Coalition Of Ga Royals

A Group calling itself Coalition Of Royals of The Ga State (CORGS) has indicated that, the installation of Dr. Kelvin Tackie as Ga Mantse was wrong since it was done by an illegitimate Dzasetse in the person of Dr. Tetteh Kwei.

According to the Group, Dr. Tetteh Kwei who performed the installation of Dr. Kelvin Tackie as a rival Ga Mantse has been thrown out of Court with corresponding fines on a number of occasions and therefore, should be ignored with the contempt it deserves.

Addressing a Press Conference dubbed “Bring Back Our King – Ga Mantse Boni Tackie Adama Latse-II (The Legitimate Ga Mantse), the Coalition indicated that elders and King-makers of Teiko Tsuru-we have recently came out with a press conference, a statement and a video stating clearly that it is not their turn as Teiko Tsuru-we to nominate and install a Ga Mantse but rather it is the turn of Abola Piam-we to install and Abola Piam-we have duly installed Boni  King Tackie Adama latse-II (George Abia Tackie).

“They stated further that they (Teiko Tsuru-We) have not installed anyone called Dr. Kelvin Tackie (alias Nii Teiko Tsuru-II) since it is not their turn and therefore they have no hand in that installation.”

Below is the full statement by CORGS

COALITION OF ROYALS OF THE GA STATE {CORGS}.

DUBBED: BRING BACK OUR KING –

GA MANTSE BONI TACKIE ADAMA LATSE-II (THE LEGITIMATE GA MANTSE).

INTRODUCTION :

Good morning Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

We are gathered here this august morning under the auspices of the Coalition of Royals Of The Ga State (CORGS) to address matters of concern adversely affecting the peace, progress and development of the Ga State.

We, The Coalition Of Royals Of The Ga States (CORGS),  deem it fit to invite you all here present this morning to address the recent disturbances and developments surrounding the Ga Mantse Stool, Ga Traditional Council and the Ga State as a whole and to set the records straight without any compromises or prejudices.

WHO WE ARE:

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

The Coalition Of Royals Of The Ga States (CORGS), is a Non-political and Non-governmental organization which was formed with the aim of advancing the course of the Ga State.

Membership of CORGS comprises of well-meaning Gamei and representatives from all the Traditional Tribes/Clans of the Ga state, namely Asere Kotopon, Abola, Gbese, Sempe, Akunmajen and Otublohum who have the Peace, Progress and Development of the Ga State at heart.

ISSUES UNFOLDING:

1: BROUHAHA OVER INSTALLATION OF A NEW GA MANTSE (DOUBLE INSTALLATION):

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Press/Media.

The Coalition Of Royals Of The Ga States (CORGS), wishes to express grave worries about the brouhaha surrounding the Ga Paramountcy and our disappointment about the actors ( i.e Minority  Ga Dzase, Ga NPP Functionaries in government, the Presidency, the Former Greater Regional Minister and Gborbu Wulomo) involved in the installation of a rival Ga Mantse to the disturbances of the peace and progress of the Ga State.

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

With the demise of the Late Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II, Ga Mantse, on 10th December, 2004 and subsequent burial on 27th January, 2007, the need for a successor to occupy “Abetechi Afadi” Stool became inevitable.

By Ga Customs and norms, the funeral and burial of a Ga Mantse is the sole prerogative of the Ga Dzasetse without which a burial cannot take place.

However, the then Ga Dzasetse Late Nii Kwaku Niri-II (aka Paul Tagoe of Tackie Komey-we) preceded Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II. The need for a Ga Dzasetse therefore, became the priority but the selection was met with controversies. However Nii Yaote Oto Ga-II (Emmanuel Nii Yaote Yartey of Amugi-we) was nominated and installed the Ga Dzasetse in the year 2005 by the appropriate authorities and was accepted by the Three Traditional Priesthood of Ga Mashie, namely Nae-we, Korle-we and Sakumo-we after Dr. Nii Tetteh Kwei rejected an offer to be the Dzasetse. Nii Yaote Oto Ga-II was clothed with the consequential authority to bury Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II the late Ga Mantse, to nominate and select an appropriate candidate for installation as Ga Mantse in consultation with the Ga Dzaase to succeed late Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II. (Copies Attached as Appendix “A” and “B”).

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

There are four (4) ruling house in the Ga State /Ga Mashie who ascend the Ga Stool in a rotational order from time in memorial. They are the Teiko Tsuru-we, Tackie Komey-we, Amugi-we and Abola Piam-we in that order. After the death of Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II ( From Amugi-We) the mantle passed to Abola Piam-We based on a ruling of the Greater Accra Regional House Of Chiefs (GARHC), Chieftaincy Tribunal Dodowa, dated 13th September, 1988. (Copy attached as Appendix “C”).

Also a look at the Reindorf History indicates the most recent reign as below:-

NAME OF KING YEAR REIGNED YEARS REIGN HOUSE / CLAN
1.Nii Tackie Tawiah-II 1944 – 1947 3-Years Teiko Tsuru-We
2.Nii Tackie Komme-II 1948 – 1962 (Destooled) 14-Years Tackie Komme-We
3.Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II 1965 – 2004 39-Years Amugi-We
4.Turn To Provide Abola Piam-We

from the above table and order of rotation it is clear that it is the turn of the Abola Piam-we to nominate and install a Ga Mantse  after the demise of Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II {of Amugi-we} and not Teiko Tsuru-we as we are being made to believe by the Gborbu Committee and some elements in the NPP administration.

NOMINATION, VETTING & ELECTION OF CANDIDATE FOR THE GA MANTSE STOOL.

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

After the burial of Boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II, Nii Yaote Oto Ga-II as Ga Dzasetse, together with the Paramount Stool Dzase, invited candidates for vetting from elders of Abola Piam-We. They presented George Tackie, Dr. Kelvin Tackie, Kudza Okai, and Late Ayitey Aryeetey (aka Ayitey Canada). (It is worthy of note that, the first two candidates were borrowed from Teiko Tsuru-We owing to challenges with candidates within Abola Piam-We).

GEORGE ABIA TACKIE [BONI KING TACKIE NII ADAMA LATSE-II]:

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

Nii Yaote Oto Ga-II, Ga Dzasetse together with the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase, elected George Tackie Abia for installation by appropriate authorities as Ga Mantse on the 11th of June, 2011 after he has performed all the necessary traditional rites in the Ga Stool room and sakumo-We. He was given the  stool name Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II (instead of King Adama Kuradza-II) and the original traditional beads (Afili-the symbol of authority) taken from the late boni Nii Amugi Sorse-II as tradition demands.

Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II was later presented by the Ga Dzasetse Nii Yaote Oto Ga-II to the Ga traditional Council for the appropriate formal processes towards recognition in accordance with the provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the republic Of Ghana and the Chieftaincy Act (Act-759). The Ga Traditional Council, headed by the Otublohum Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki-II (Acting President) accepted him into membership of the Council and duly forwarded his CD Forms ( Chieftaincy Forms) to the Greater Accra Regional House Of chiefs in Dodowa for onward transmission to the National House Of Chiefs in Kumasi. After all the appropriate and requisite checks and enquiries, the CD Forms were sent by the Greater Accra Regional House Of Chiefs in Dodowa to the National House Of Chiefs at Kumasi. (Copies Attached as Appendix “D” and “E”).

Ladies and gentlemen of the Media, after satisfying itself about the bona fides of Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II, the National House Of Chiefs accepted him into office as the Ga mantse and registered his name into the National register of Chiefs as Ga Mantse on 24th April, 2015, and the Chieftaincy Bulletin No.21 dated December, 2009 to April 2015. (Copies Attached as Appendix “F” and “G”).

It was mandatory thereafter, for the Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Dodoo Nsaki-II to induct Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II into office as President of the Ga traditional Council as mandated under the Chieftaincy Act,2008 (Act 759) section 13 (1). This where the tricks and games began. Nii Dodoo Nsaki-II was not prepared to relinquish the position as Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council and begun using one excuse after another, as we speak now, Nii Dodoo Nsaki-II has handed over the role of Acting President to Nii Adotey Otintor-II, Sempe Mantse on an excuse that, he is aged and can no longer continue with that office. Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional House Of Chiefs (GARHC) requested him to relinquish the position earlier. At a time, he (Nii Dodoo Nsaki-II) led members of the Ga Traditional Council to the Presidency at the Jubilee House, requesting the President His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo to them a Ga Mantse, when there is already a gazetted and legitimate Ga Mantse Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II. (Copy Attached As Appendix “H”).

The Greater Accra Regional House Of Chiefs (GARHC) sensing Danger for the Ga State, invited Hon. Ishmael Ashitey the Greater Accra Regional minister, Hon…….Chieftaincy Minister, Hon….Council Of State Member for Greater Accra Region, and the Greater Accra Regional commander Of police…….to an emergency meeting of the house on 16th March, 2018, on the issue based on Article 274 (3) (B) of the 1992 constitution. After deliberations it was resolved that, the House(GARHC) submit to the State Officials mentioned above the legitimate Paramount Chief of the Ga Traditional Area, per available records.

The Greater Accra House Of Chiefs (GARHC) immediately wrote a letter dated29th March, 2018 to the National House Of Chiefs, Kumasi, requesting them to furnish the House (GARHC) with the Status of the Ga paramount Chief for necessary action. The National House Of Chiefs, Kumasi, also on 9th April, 2018, replied to the request indicating that, the person whose name appears in the National Register Of Chiefs as Ga Mantse (Paramount Chief Of Ga) is BONI KING TACKIE ADAMA LATSE-II (GEORGE TACKIE ABIA) with a copy of an Extract of the National Register Of Chiefs. (Copies Attached As Appendix “I” & “J”)

The former Greater Accra regional minister Hon. Ishmael Ashitey on number of occasions visited the Greater Accra regional House Of Chiefs at Dodowa, to address the House which brought him face-to-face with Boni King Adama Latse-II, the Ga Mantse as a member of the Greater Accra regional House Of Chiefs but yet refused to acknowledge our Ga Mantse and rather connived with some elements in the NPP Government, the Gborbu Wulomo and the Ga traditional Council to clandestinely install one Dr.Kelvin Tackie from the Teiko Tsuru-We as Ga Mantse (With the Stool name – King Tackie Teiko Tsuru-II). (Copy Attached As appendix “K”).

All attempts by these NPP Government functionaries and their cohorts to have the gazette of our Ga Mantse Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II cancelled from the National register of Chiefs at the national House of Chiefs failed woefully. Also series of scandals court actions and issuance of Bench Warrant to get Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II compromised and step down as occupant of the Ga Paramountcy ended in futility.

That, Boni king Tackie Adama Latse-II the legitimate Ga Mantse has not abdicated his throne neither has he been destooled and though he is still occupying the Ga Paramount Stool he is being frustrated to seat and rule from both the Ga Mantse Palace and the Ga traditional Council as its president. On the other hand, he is confidently performing his duties at the regional House of chiefs, where he has recently been elected one of the five members representing the region at the National house Of chiefs at Kumasi.

DR.KELVIN TACKIE (ALIAS  – NII TEIKO TSURU-II).

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Press/Media. Its of interest to know that :-

Kelvin Tackie was one of the candidates who appeared before the Ga Paramount Stool Dzase and signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (M.O.U) to go by the final determination and decision of the Ga Dzase only to turn around to do the unexpected., fighting the decision of the Ga Dzase after he realized that the decision  of the Ga Dzase was not in his favor. {Copy of the M.O.U Attached As Appendix “L” }

The ilegimate Dzasetse in the person of Dr. Tetteh Kwei who performed the installation of dr.kelvin tackie as a rival  ga mantse has been thrown out of court with corresponding fines on a number of occasions and therefore, should be ignored with the contempt it deserves.

The elders and King-makers of Teiko Tsuru-we recently came out with a press conference, a statement and a video stating clearly that it is not their turn as Teiko Tsuru-we to nominate and install a Ga mantse but rather it’s the turn of Abola Piam-we to install and Abola Piam-we have duly installed Boni  King Tackie Adama latse-II (George Abia Tackie). They stated further that they (Teiko Tsuru-We) have not installed anyone called Dr.Kelvin Tackie (alias Nii Teiko Tsuru-II) since it’s not their turn and therefore they have no hand in that installation. (Copy of Press statement attached As Appendix “M” )

ATTEMPTS TO REMEDY THE SITUATION:

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Press/Media.

All efforts through court actions, Series of letters, press releases (etc) by some members of CORGS and the Ga Dzase to caution The presidency at Jubilee house, the former  greater accra regional minister Hon. Ishmael Ashitey and the Ga Traditional council to desist from this illegitimate actions proved futile.

Elders of Abola Quarter wrote a letter dated 5th June, 2020 to his excellence the President on the Ga mantse Issues, and the reply from the Presidency signed by the secretary to the President advised the elders of Abola to hold on till a final decision by the Greater Accra regional House Of Chiefs (GARHC) since the President has no mandate on the matter.(Copy attached As appendix “N”).

As we speak this young man Dr. Kelvin Tackie (one time the vice-presidential candidate for J.O.Y the independent presidential candidate) has been forcibly Installed as a counter Ga Mantse over the people of the Ga States by these fraudulent, greedy, power driven allies of the Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council and the NPP government to the disappointment/dismay of the people of the Ga state. This is an upfront to our age long established Ga Customs and traditions.

2: HANDING OVER OF THE PRESIDENCY OF THE GA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL.

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Press/Media.

The Coalition Of Royals Of The Ga States (CORGS), wishes to express its shock at the recent development at the Ga Traditional Council ( captured in the media), where on Monday 1st March, 2021,  the Acting President of the ga traditional Council  Nii Doodo Nsaki-II, Otublohum Mantse handed over the acting presidency role to Nii Adotey Otintor-II, sempe mantse when there is already a Legitimate ga mantse and a substantive President in the person of Boni King Tackie Adama Latse-II. This we see as an affront, unfortunate and a recipe for chaos in the Ga state and therefore wish to call on the members of the Ga Traditional council to do the needful and reverse that anomaly.

Why handover the acting Presidency to Nii Adotey Otintor-II and Not Dr. Kelvin Tackie (Nii Teiko Tsuru-II) who you claim to be the Ga mantse If we are to go by that assertion  or is it because Nii dodoo Nsaki-II has openly said that Dr. Kelvin  Tackie (alias Nii Teiko Tsuru-II) is not gazette? Why handover to Nii Adotey Otintor-II and not Boni King Tackie Adama Latse-II the legitimate Ga mantse?

THE LEGITIMATE GA MANTSE – KING BONI ADAMA LATSE-II.

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Press/Media.

CORGS, research has shown that there is a legitimate Ga Mantse – Boni King Nii Tackie Adama Latse-II who was installed on 11th June,2011, from Abola Piam-we, the rightful ruling house whose turn it is to provide a candidate to be  installed Ga Mantse. The government and his functionaries CANNOT and MUST NOT impose anybody over us as Ga Mantse. The Acting President and members of the Ga Traditional Council with their cohorts CANNOT and MUST NOT decide who becomes a Ga Mantse for us.  The legitimate Ga Mantse – King Boni Adama Latse-II is not DEAD, he is very much ALIVE, neither has he abdicated.

We therefore appeal to the government, national security, national house of chiefs, greater accra regional house of chiefs (GARHC), the media fraternity to help bring back our legitimate Ga mantse – BONI KING ADAMA LATSE-II, whose rights is being undermined and thus Peace, development and Progress of the people of Ga State are also being undermined.

This blatant disregard of the law must not be swept under the carpet of political expediency. It has gone on for far too long, to the displeasure of the majority of Ga’s of all political persuasions.

Niimei Ke Naamei, Ladies and Gentlemen and the members of the Media.

A recent instance of the crass disregard for the laws of Ghana is the use of Dr. Kelvin Tackie (alias Nii Teiko Tsuru-II) as the Ga Mantse for the COVID-19 vaccination when there is a legitimate and Gazetted Ga Mantse as indicated by the records of the National house Of Chiefs.

We don’t have to take to the streets to demonstrate before the government listens, we are of the believe that, the government already has the intelligence from National Bureau Of Investigations (NIB) and the National Security and would wish that the government and her agencies acts to our call bearing in mind that the Capital of Ghana is in Accra (Greater Accra Region), and that any disturbances in Accra will undermine the government and development of Ghana as a whole.

Finally, we are looking forward to a prompt response and progress from all quarters of authority herein mentioned.

Thank You.

Long live the People of the Ga State (Ga Mashie),

Long live the Ga Mantse Boni King Tackie Adama Latse-II,

Long live Ghana.
