Court Remands Land Guards In 2 Weeks Prison Custody For Shooting Workers

The Amansaman Divisional District Court has sent one Owusu Manu Ackyeampong, who is laying claim on the Abease Stool, to two-weeks prison custody pending investigation into a shooting incident in the area.

Owusu Manu Ackyeampong was arrested by the Amansaman police for allegedly sending land guards onto a land belonging to the Abease Chief, Nii Kotey Susubribi Onyabrempong I, to cause havoc.

The land guards who were purported to have been sent by the accused, were said to have opened gone to the site fully armed and opened fire at workers on the said land on April 26, 2019, injuring them.

Workers on the land sustained various degrees of injury, including Odartey Lamptey whose condition was critical and had to be sent to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Speaking to the Abease Chief, Nii Kotey Susubribi Onyabrempong I, he explained that he received reports of threats from the accused on his workers but treated it with kids gloves until that faithful day when he was informed that some land guards were on the land opening fire at his workers.

He said, the Amansaman police sent the matter to Court, and the Court referred the accused to two weeks pending investigations after which, the Court will go into the matter before it.
