The Chief of Akyem Akroso in the Asene Manso Akroso District of the Eastern Region, Nana Kwabena Ofori, has called on the government to fix Akroso roads for them.
The chief speaking during the Atwea festival stated that all the roads in Akroso are in bad state and not motorable, and now there’s no single bitumen on their roads.
According to him, whenever they visit other places, they walk on tarred road and some are even asphalted but when you come to Akroso, there’s nothing better there, so he pleaded with the authorities to come to their aid so that they can construct the roads for them.
Nana Kwabena Ofori also asked the politicians in Akroso to come together so that they can develop the area.
The Member of Parliament for Asene Manso Akroso constituency, Hon. George Kwame Aboagye, assured the Chief and the people of Akroso that very soon the contractor who is working on Akroso township road and Akroso to Asamankese road will be moving to the site to fix the roads for them.
According to him, he had an interaction with the contractor, and he told him the government has promised to release some money to him so that he can complete the Akroso Asamankese road, and after that, he will work on the Akroso township road.
He also said that very soon the government will be building a palm oil factory in the constituency. He told the people who have planted palms in the constituency to be ready because money will be locating them soon. The MP urged the farmers who didn’t get the palm seedlings to write their names so that they will provide them with the seedlings so that they can plant them and also benefit from the factory.
A philanthropist who have been helpful to the constituency, Mr. Alex Owusu Agyei, called on the citizens of Akroso to invite their family members who are doing well overseas to come down when there’s an occasion in the area so that they can all contribute to the development of Akyem Akroso.
He said one person can not do it alone, so he urged the people who are natives of Akroso and doing very well to come down so that together they can develop the town.
