GOC President Recommends Allowances For National Team Coaches

Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has called for financial support for national sports coaches who are not employed by the National Sports Authority (NSA) or the security agencies.

Addressing the coaches at a meeting at the conference room of the GOC he said coaches need to be motivated in their sacrificial job.

According to the GOC president, coaches can give off their best if they are not under financial pressure, and was sad that most of them were just sacrificing for the nation.
He noted that the GOC is autonomous and does not engage in politics, so national coaches must try to be non-political, so that they can be trusted.

He urged them to be united and care for each other by forming a National Coaches Association.

Ben Nunoo Mensah assured that young coaches would be put on salary in the new programme being put up by the National Youth Employment (NYE).

He announced that very soon the GOC will open a Hall of Fame where outstanding sportsmen and women who won medals at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
The GOC president urged females to try to become coaches and help female sports people.
Some of the coaches also asked the GOC to support them with insurance or support when they get injury.
