Home For Teenage Mothers Near Completion

A Home for Teenage Mothers currently under construction at Agona Nkum in the Central Region is to be ready for use by the close of the third quarter of the year.

The facility is the initiative of the Chief Executive Officer { CEO} of Give to Eat, Ghana-a Non-Governmental Organization, Rev. Dr. Kingsley Arthur and his wife Mrs. Babara Arthur both Nkosuohene {Development Chiefs] of Agona Nkum with stool names Nana Kwame Atta Abbang I and Ohemaa Efua Atta I, philanthropists based in Germany.

It contains twelve lavatories with wash rooms, children’s resting hall, staff rooms, and a computer laboratory as well as a playing ground for both indoor and outdoor games.

Conducting ghananews247.com round the facility, the Country Co-ordinator of Give to Eat, Mr.  Richard Kobby Abbam disclosed that when completed, the Home will serve as a learning centre for girls who had become single mothers or dropped out of school as a result of unwanted pregnancy.

He said that apart from offering the women vocational skills such as hair dressing, batik/tie and dye, soap and pomade making, those who would want to continue their education would also be taken through the main stream educational system, all free of charge, including free accommodation, feeding and free provision of teaching and learning materials [TLMs}.

He again hinted that already, the NGO is catering for the up-keeping and education of over one hundred children across the country, as well as providing shelter for some destitute in society at Agona Nkum and its environs, particularly widows.

It is also engaged in large scale farming to feed the Home.
