Late Kojo Ababio’s Successor Not Yet Installed

… Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council Declares

The Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council has indicated that the purported installation of a successor to the late Oblempong Kojo Ababio V, is null and void.
In a statement, the Traditional Council said it has not enstooled any individual as the successor of the late Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V as the paramount chief of Jamestown and that such claims should be disregarded.
The Alata Traditional Council indicated that by the Ga Customs and Traditions, a chief shall only be installed when the demised is buried hence the installation of Oblempong Wetse Kojo II is unacceptable.
It said: “There has not been any installation of a chief to succeed the late Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V whose funeral rites is yet to be made and that any purported installation of a chief should be ignored.”
“Based on this, the traditional council cautions that no person has been installed as the Paramount Chief of Ngleshie Alata.”
The Traditional Council also stated that the late Chief Oblempong Nii Kojo V is still in the mogue and urged all prospects to disregard all purported statements claiming a new chief has been installed with name Oblempong Wetse Kojo II.
“It is the duty of Ngleshie Alata to set the records straight for which we are earnestly and emphatically doing that no person has been installed as Oblempong Kojo Wetse II for which the traditional council is aware of” the statement said.
However, it has nominated Ngleshie Nii Addy V, the Adontehene of the traditional area as the acting president, of which substantive person shall be appointed in due course.
The statement also made references to a ruling on August 16, 2018 between Nii Ngleshie Addy V and 1 other vrs Prince Ashiaku Bruce Qyuaye and 9 others, in Suit No GARHC/P.5/2018 where the Judicial Committee of the Regional House of Chiefs ruled on certain aspect of the matter over the legitimacy of some elements over the Stool.
The traditional council has therefore stated that it will together with the family come out with a programme which will be followed strictly.
