Principal Kingmakers and elders of the Alata Traditional Area in Accra on Tuesday February 6, 2018 performed traditional and customary rites to induct the newly-installed Paramount Chief of James Town, Obrempong Wetse Kojo II into the Ajumaku Dewurampong Royal Stool House.
The customary rites was undertaken by the Chief Priest (Wolumo) of Ajumaku Dewurampong, Numoo Jamrah III and supported by the Principal Stool Father of Ajumaku Royal Stool, Nii Tetteh Tsuru III and Kingmaker (Dzaasetse) for the Stool, Nii Ayi Okujeaman IV.
The initiative attested to the fact that Obrempong Wetse Kojo II was traditional endorsed as the legitimate person to ascend the throne of Alata Nglenshie Paramount Stool to succeed the late substantive James Town Mantse, Obrempong Kojo Ababio V, who passed away on the 22nd of December 2017, after a short illness.
Obrempong Wetse Kojo II, known in his Private life as Dr. Prince William Asharku Bruce-Quaye was installed and enstooled on Friday February 1, 2018 after satisfying all the required customary processes of the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Stool.
His selection, nomination, election and enstoolment follow a consensus that was reached by the Kingmakers of the two gates of the Ngleshie Alata James Town Stool; Nii Kofi Akrahie We and Nii Wetse Kojo We.
The Kingmakers and elders of the Alata Ngleshie Paramount Stool who witnessed the ceremony are the Head of Nii Ardey Nkpa Family of Krokobite, Mr. Daniel Tagoe, Nii Sackey Akumia VI, Acting Dzaasetse of the Paramount Stool and Chief of Adanse Division and Head of Wetse Kojo We; Nii Appiah V, Stool father of the Paramount Stool and Kingmaker of the Gyaase , Nii Sampah Kojo XI, Osiahene and Head of the Kingmakers of the Gyaase; Nii Sackey Ansah V, Kingmaker of Gyaase and Adenta Mantse, Nii Ayikwei and among others.
Obrempong Wetse Kojo II also swore the oath office, secrecy and allegiance before the Ajumaku Royal Stool amidst chanting war songs and beating of Royal war drums in the Ajumaku Dewurampong stool House.
As per the customs and traditional norms of the people of the area, several items including a sheep, cartons of beer, crates of minerals, tubers of yam, assorted alcoholic drinks, a full piece white cloth and an undisclosed sum of money.
The ceremony followed with a procession from Ajumaku stool house through the principal streets of James Town to the Nii Appiah We, where other traditional and customary rites were also performed to induct into the house Obrempong Wetse Kojo II.
The third royal house for the induction ceremony was Adanse We, also known as Wetse kojo We,where a similar traditional and customary rites was also carried.
The last point of call for the induction was performed at the Nii Sampah Kojo We where libation was poured by Nii Hansen, the warrior king of the Ga state to unite all the various ruling houses and the people of James Town Ngleshie Alata traditional Area to officially bring to recognition the Paramount chief Obrempong Wetse Kojo II.
