Nigerian Music Taking Over the Ghanaian Music Industry – Rulers

Ghanaian and Nigerian songs have over past few years competed on global music charts and events hence establishing a face for African music in the global scene. Even though the two countries have over the years shown great talents, the battle has always seen Nigerian music on top of the list.

Speaking to the editor of Mynewsghana.com Jeremiah Kobina Egyabeng, Hiplife music group “Rulers” expressed their disappointment in key industry players for looking down on upcoming artistes and allowing international songs to override our local music.
According to the music group, Ghana has enough talents to compete on international platforms but most of these talents have faded off or are still wandering about in the ghetto.

Some of Ghanaian artistes who are currently representing Ghana on international platforms are Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie. This is not because they are too talented but because they got the opportunity to shine to the world.
We have lots of great talents in Ghana and even right here in the studios of “Rulers Empire” but most of them don’t get support even the Ghanaian media is never ready to support them.
Nigeria can boast of internationally recognized artistes like Psqaure, Wizkid, Davido, Patoranking, Burnabwoy, Tiw savage and many more. But the case is different when you come to Ghana. Most of these Nigerian artistes found their fame here in Ghana but why can’t we help our own. They said.
Even though Nigerian music is doing good in the international level  we still have great artistes like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and the likes who can battle our Nigerian counterparts but a lot needs to be done to revive Ghanaian music.
There are lots of marketing modules that we can use to boost the music industry but everyone seems unconcerned.
In what seems to be more of a straight forward opinion, member of the group, “Ruler Star boy” threw some shots at media houses who refuse to play local songs by uprising artiste and instead go online to download songs of international artiste whom they have never set eye on. Whether or not upcoming artistes find a space in the music industry depends highly on the support of the media he said.
The group however advised their colleague musicians to stop sabotaging and support each other to climb the ladder of success.

On countless occasions, “Rulers” have rocked events across Ghana and beyond. Their biggest hit “Your Body” featuring S.K blinks climbed several music charts Ghana and across the continent. The latest from the camp of Rulers Empire is “Pretty Girl’ which featured Ghana’s self-acclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale. Keep an eye on this space for updates.
