Oxzy FM Journalist Beaten By Soldiers For Covering COVID-19 Fumigation Exercise

A broadcast journalist working with Oxzy fm, Fred Ofosu Bako was yesterday morning assulted by some millitary officers at the Dome Market during the fumigation exercise against COVID-19.

The journalist who went to the market to report on the exercise was given the beating of his life by some seven soldiers led by their commander.

The journalist who forgot his ID Card at home, went back home to fetch the card.

Upon his return to the market, he was again accosted by the same soldiers who, this time round, pounced on him amid slaps with severe beatings.
Fred Ofosu Bako was severely beaten to pulp.

For over 45 minutes, the journalist was at the soldiers.

The soldiers allegedly used their gun buts on him.

“Some of the soldiers even aimed their guns at him in an attempt to shoot him but for the crowd of people around, they could shoot,” an eye witnesses said.

Speaking to Fred Ofosu Bako on the incident, he confirmed the assault and said he reported the incident to the police for further investigation.
Checks from the Taifa Police Station revealed that, the journalist was made to write his statement after which a medical form was given to him to visit the hospital for medical examination and report.
