Participants Of The Joint Intelligence Operative Course Visit Tema Port

36 Participants, comprising personnel from the military, police, immigration and the National Fire Service who are undertaking a Joint Intelligence Operatives Refresher Course have visited the Tema Port as part of their course program to acquaint themselves with port activities and emerging trends in security threats of the country.

The course organised by the Department of Defence Intelligence under the auspices of the National Security Council was also to create interoperability among the security agencies of the country.

The Tema Port Security Manager, Col Joseph Malik Punamane, who briefed the participants on the Tema Port’s history and operations, described how Ghana’s ports are being positioned to be a hub with a world class security within the West African Sub-region.

He said the Tema Port Security, along with its allied security agencies work strategically to ensure security threats like narcotic smuggling, stowaway, piracy and armed robbery at sea, among others are curtailed within Ghana’s jurisdiction.

Director of Intelligence Training, General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel William Kwabiah, described such programmes as opportune for participants to appreciate the security operations at Ghana’s port.
