Ray Demski donates boxing kits to Bukom Boxing Gyms

Ace sports photographer, Ray Demski has donated some boxing equipment to gyms and club at Bukom  and James Town.

Demski, a Canadian residing in Germany who is shooting a documentary on Bukom Boxing said he was touched by the great talent and passion for boxing in Ghana, but saddened by the fact that they do not have some basic kits for training, especially the kids who had to use equipment from their seniors.

He said the performance of the juvenile boxers was awesome and amazing.

According to him, Ghana is blessed with great sports talents, as he saw most children playing football, basketball, running at the beach and boxing in gyms with not much equipment.

He commended coaches like, Wadada, Ofori Asare, Napoleon Tagoe, Akai Nettey, Sowah Thompson, Carl Lokko, Quartelai Quartey, Charles Quartey, Swizz and others for their devotion and dedication to the sport and teaching others to make it.

Some of the gyms he visited and donated gloves and bandages are Attoh Quarshie, Bronx, Bukom, Charles Quartey Foundation, Wisdom and the Beach boxing clubs.

He said Ghana has a lot of potential and the future is bright.

He called on the administrators, managers and media to do more to support the budding talents.

Coach Carl Lokko of Bronx Gym thanked Demski for his gesture and promised that the Ghanaian boxers and trainers are grateful and impressed with his gift which will go a long way in producing more boxing champions for the nation.

Ray Demski was accompanied by his crew made up of Yours Truly, Ben Nii Nortei, Jacob and Florian from Austria.

He hopes to meet some personalities like the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Peter Zwennes, Prof. Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, president of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) George Lamptey, president of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah and others.

He told Yours Truly, Ghana is blessed with very nice and hospitable people.

He also commended Ghanaian boxers who have been rated by the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) recently and the World Boxing Council (WBC) for honouring Azumah Nelson, the living legend of Ghana Sports.

He praised the Women In Sports Association (WISA), an NGO led by Madam Gloria Commodore also for recognizing and awarding some distinguished sports personalities including four people who are involved in boxing, namely, Yarkor Chavez Annan, Amerley Turkson, Gifty Naa Darkua Dodoo and Yours Truly.
