UEW records an impressive start to this year’s GUSA games

The 26th Ghana Universities Sports Association games (GUSA) kick started at the University of Ghana, Legon on a very impressive note for Team UEW. The games currently under way at the University of Ghana, Legon will officially open today January 6, 2019 and will come to a close on January 19, 2020.

The sixteen days event is under the theme ‘Integrating Sports Into Academia for Youth Empowerment and Development’.

The games have been used over the years to harness the talents of students at the universities from disciplines like Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Football and Goalball.

Other disciplines are Handball, Hockey, Netball, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.

The University of Education, Winneba’s (UEW) contingent is being led by the Chairman of Amalgamated Sports Clubs, Dr. Kwame Kyere Diabour ably supported by his team of technical handlers.

Team UEW has so far had a stellar start to the games, winning all matches played on day one.

Volleyball Men
UDS 3 vs KNUST 0

UCC had a walkover against UNER. UPSA also had a walkover on GIMPA. Both teams were late for 15 minutes hence their respective walkovers.

UHAS won by 5 goals to 3 on penalty shoot outs.
