The Member of Parliament for Asene Akroso Manso constituency in the Eastern Region Hon George Kwame Aboagye has promised to acquire license for motorcycle riders in the Asene Akroso Manso constituency.
According to him, it has become necessary because the number of youth that engages in the ‘Okada’ business as a temporary or full-time job has increased.
Hence there is the need to regulate the business to ensure the safety of the riders, their customers and the Constituency at large.
Hon George Kwame Aboagye MP for Asene Akroso Manso constituency addressing the riders advised them to always ride with care in order to avoid accidents.
According to him, Okada business is a good venture. Adding that, the riders need to form an association and elect leaders who would be responsible for the day to day activities of the riders.
He advised them to always put on crash helmet and protective gears while riding in order to minimize the state of injury when the unexpected happens.
Hon George Kwame Aboagye also cautioned the riders to avoid overloading, over speeding and rather adhere all road safety regulations.
He encouraged them to register and insure their bikes so that in case the unexpected happens, they would be entitled to some benefits.
The MTTD Divisional Commander for Akim Oda, ASP Edmond Agyekum also seized the opportunity to advise them to obey road safety regulations. And also desist from unnecessary over speeding and overloading.
