Agona West Assembly Orders Removal Of Unauthorized Slabs On Drains

The Agona West Municipal Assembly has ordered traders in the Municipality who have constructed slabs on drainage as passage way to their stores without authorization by the Assembly to remove them with immediate effect or face the full rigors of the law.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Mrs. Cynthia Mamle Morrison who gave the order during the National Sanitation Day exercise in the town last Saturday pointed out that the unauthorized construction of slabs are the major cause of choking of drainages because of inability to disitl them as a result of those slabs.

She gave the warning after it took over two to disilt are drainage at one particular spot in front of a store where a slab had been constructed over the drainage to serve as a passage way to the store.

But despite the calling in of the Ghana National Fire Service with their water jet spray machine, the effort became fruitless because of the nature of the blockage of the drain.

The exercise was undertaken by personnel from the Ghana Police Service, staff of the Municipal Assembly, the Environmental Health Office, Assembly members, the media, the Ghana National Fire Service and members of the public including traders.
