The Ashaiman Muslims Coalition has installed Alhaji Illiasu Alhassan as the Chief Jihad of the Tema Metropolis.
The installation is in recognition of his support and assistance to the Muslim community within the Tema Metropolis.
Alhaji Illiasu Alhassan who is a business man before his elevation to his current status was earlier installed as the Siriki Yaaki, which is the Chief warrior of Ashaiman.
In a brief ceremony that took place at the office of the coalition in Ashaiman, the head of the Coalition, Osas Abubakari Sulemana noted that Alhaji Illiasu Alhassan over the years has continually been of immense support to the Muslim community in the metropolis.
“Thus installation is to honour our brother who has supported the Muslim community over the years. This is a young guy who has devoted himself to the good course if Islam as well as the support of the poor and needy within the catchment area. ”
Alhaji Abubakari further added that the coalition settled on installing Alhaji Illiasu Alhassan the title Chief Jihad because of his care and dedication which is outstanding.
He said the Muslim community comprises of the Tema Metropolis, Ashaiman,Tema West and Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assemblies.
“Upon receiving this honours, Chief Jihad has a responsibility to continue to champion and promote the agenda of good Islamic norms within these areas as well as lead an exemplary lifestyle worth emulating by the youth”.
The newly installed Chief Jihad, Alhaji Illiasu Alhassan on his part promised to use his new position for the good of the people.
“I am happy that today I have been installed as the Chief Jihad in addition to my earlier position as the Sariki Yaaki; I am highly honoured. I shall use this position to continue to inspire our youth not only within my jurisdiction but in other areas to ensure we build a strong and vibrant Islamic community”.
He added that “some of our Muslim youth seem to be forgetting the teachings of Islam which teaches and mandates us to continually do good and obey the words of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, so I’ll try and engage our youth more to ensure we build a great society for all” he mentioned.
Several traditional heads from the adjoining communities were present to grace the occasion amidst a display of the northern traditional dance.
