Parents of Ghanaian students stuck in Wuhan-China are calling for Health minister, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu to resign from his duty post.
According to them , thousand’s of people are dying in China, and nations are evacuating their citizens but unfortunately the Minister of Health has belittled the situation that the students are fine and that government has sent them money.
“We the parents recently read in one of the newspapers quoting the Health minister saying the government will send shito, gari, banku and kenkey to the locked down students in wuhan and it’s environs”, they said.
Speaking on behalf of the angry parents today at Press center, Mrs. Irene Callixta Songotu calls on President Nana Akufo-Addo as matter of urgency take steps to evacuate the students in wuhan and it’s environs in a matter of days.
The angry parents also seized the opportunity to call on the members of the council of state, Christian Council, the office of the Chief Imam, Pentecostal and Chrismatic Churches in Ghana and indeed all Ghanaians to speak to the government to evacuate the stuck students in wuhan and it’s environs now.
To Mrs. Callixta Songotu, the people are worried about the situation in China and majority of Ghanaians wonder why government has not taken any steps in bringing the students home.
She disclosed that ” If the fear is that some of the students may be infected and may bring the virus here, we the parents are saying that apart from the screening them at the Airport, they could be quarantined until such a time that they would be released and parents are willing to bear the costs”, she revealed.
Per the analysis, about one hundred and Eighty (180) Ghanaian students who are study in China currently. So far no Ghanaian students is inffected in coronavirus now and this is a good news to bring them home.
