NCCE Organizes Debate On Constitution For Schools

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Agona West Municipality in the Central Region has organized quiz debate for students in Basic schools in Agona Swedru on the theme ”Knowing the Constitution-A Sure Way of Having Law Abiding Citizens.

The programme which is the brain-child of the Municipal Director of the NCCE Mr. Sakyi Sam is to encourage the younger generation to appreciate and be abreast with the provisions of the Constitution.

Though it was initially intended to be carried out throughout the Municipality, it was later decided to be conducted in phases because of lack of funds.

Briefing the media, the NCCE boss, Mr. Sakyi Sam noted that the programme which would be made Annual events is targeted at students in the Basic and Senior High schools.

He also noted that similarly programmes would be organized for personnel of the various Security Services in the Municipality in the future.

Some of the teachers who spoke to the media after the events expressed satisfaction about the programme and called for it to be replicated in other parts of the country.

They also appealed to benevolent organizations and individuals to support the NCCE in the area of sponsorship to carry out such a noble events to make children who will take the mantle of the nation’s leadership in the future to be aware of their rights and responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution.
