Sissala West DCE Chased Out From Office

Some angry youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Gwollu, in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region, on Thursday afternoon chased out the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mohammed Bakor. They also locked up his office.

According to Iddrisu Waaleka, the constituency coordinator, the youth wanted their preferred candidate to be appointed the coordinator for the Micro-finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) for the district.

They felt the DCE betrayed them after having several engagement with him, and party leaders failed in securing the job for their candidate.

“The Chairman for the constituency, Kanchuo D. Dramani, went to discuss with the DCE, the name of the person who should be made the MASLOC coordinator, but he refused and spoke in a rather unpleasant manner to him. The youth, who were angry, also went there to attack him but he got wind and fled from office,” Iddrisu Waaleka said.

Meanwhile, the Sissala West District Police Commander has said they have been able to calm the situation.
