Sod Cut For Atomic-Taifa Road Construction Work

Adjoa Sarfo joins the Roads and Highways Minister on a truck to cut the ground for work to begin

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Amoako Akwesi Atta has assured the people of Ghana that the era of shoddy road construction works are over and that the Akufo-Addo led government will ensure that there is timely payment of contractors to enable them deliver excellently.

According to him, delivering quality work especially on our rodas largely depends on the importance government attached to the payment of contractors.

The Minister was speaking on Wednesday; Novermber 22, 2017 when he break grounds for the construction of a 1.5kilometre dual carriage Dome Atomic Roundabout to Taifa road.

Amoako Akwesi Atta said the commencement of the project which is the first road project to be undertaken by the government since assuming power in January 2017, will open the gateway to other raod projects.

He indicated that the deplorable state of the Dome-Taifa roads has been a worry to government especially President Akufo-Addo who is much particular about meeting the promises he made to the people of Ghana hence, the greatest attachment to the project.

He mentions that the project has gone through competitive bidding process where the best contractor Merss Darko Company Limited was approved.

According to him, government will ensure regular payment of contractors and that contractors will have no excuse of not delivering on time and also handing over shoddy jobs that will not give the people of Ghana value for their money.

The Minister admonished the contractor to do an excellent job.

The Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Hon. Adjoa Safo in her address said the negative effects of the deplorable road networks in the constituency are enormous and that in the spirit of good governance, the Akufo-Addo led NPP administration is relieving drivers and other road users of the stress of plighting such bad roads.

According to Adjoa Safo government will continue to fulfill its promises and that Ghanaians must have the faith in the President that he will deliver to ensure that the lives of the people are better.

She mentioned that road construction is one of the major projects that government will prioritize, stressing that it is the responsibility of any government to provide such things like roads, schools, health facilities among others, hence the resolve by the government to respect the needs of the people.

The construction of the 50kilometer Dome Kwabenya roads will be in three phases covering Taifa, Bawkina, through to Kwabenya Mosque, Haatso, Papau, Dome Pillar 2 linking Atomic Road.
