A new chief, Tahiru Haruna has been installed as the Sariki of Swedru main Zongo with the skin name Daafi V. His enskinment follows the demise and burial of the chief of the area, Salifu Daafi IV last Saturday.
Speaking to reporters during the ceremony, members of the planning committee of the occasion, including the Assembly Member for the area Abdul Wahab Munkaila (aka ZION) expressed their satisfaction about the events and called on all and sundry, especially the zongo youth to lend their support to ensure that the reign of the new chief becomes a success and also open a new chapter in the life of all the zongo communities in the town. The ceremony was attended by Muslim chiefs and Elders of different tribes from Cape Coast, Saltpond, Kasoa, Obuasi, Oda, Nyakrom, Asamankese, Duakwa, Kumasi among others.
Also present at the occasion were some polical figures including the former NDC Member of Parliament for the Agona West Constituency Lawyer Obeng Inkoom, the former Municipal Chief Executive for the area Hon. Samuel Oppong, the former NDC aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the area Ibrahim Paapa Zubaru as well as some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
