UEW men soccer team brings back smiles as UPSA women soccer chickens out in a final game against UEW poop

The thirteen days of ongoing 26th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games continues to produce incredible results at the University of Ghana, Legon (UG).

UG has been the center of attraction for sports loving fans for the past thirteen days and still counting.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) men soccer team yesterday put behind them their painful lost to University of Ghana. The lost cost them the gold medal. The team, however, recovered in time to trash Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) by 5:0. Currently, team UEW’s striker Abel Manomey popularly known as (Agogo) is the leading goal scorer having scored a total of 10 goals in 10 matches. It means that in each game he scored a goal. He is in pole position to grab the goal king medal. Agogo, a former player of Accra Great Olympic is an experienced campaigner at the games having played in quite a number of GUSA competitions.

In the match involving UEW and University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) soccer women, UPSA did not show up for reasons best known to them alone.

This fuelled the speculation that they were running away from the fear of being walloped by UEW.

As it stands now, team UEW is going home with 15 gold, 10 silver and 17 bronze medals. The silver or bronze might go up depending on how things play out in the men soccer game between the host institution the University of Ghana (UG) and University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) this afternoon.

Despite all these permutations, team UEW is second on the medal table only after the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
