McDan urges youth to make good use of Social Media

Dr Dan McKorley, Chairman of McDan Group of Companies has urged the youth to take advantage of the opportunities that social media has provided to better their lot.

He posited that the situation was different in his time where you have to struggle at all times to get things done.

Dr McKorley made the remarks last Thursday at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Kumasi, during Youth Connect event, an initiative he formed to assist budding entrepreneurs in the country.

It was his fourth engagement after similar events at the University of Education, Winneba in the Central Region, Ho Technical University in the Volta Region and the University of Development Studies, Tamale in the Northern Region.

Dr. McKorley pointed out that everyone has a potential to be great in life but it takes a resolve to become what you dream to be by making sacrifices, and be focused to attain your dreams and change your life.

He said he and his team are in Kumasi to identify such people and push them to take giant steps and increase their pace in developing their talents.

He asserted that livelihood will continue to be challenging and it will take a disciplined and a daring soul with an uncompromising sense of responsibility to break forth.

He posited that in spite of the opportunities available to the youth today, most of them are becoming lazy and until they change their mindset they won’t experience any improvement in life.

“Becoming a successful entrepreneur is difficult. Trust me. It takes a lot of hard work, determination, and courage to make it. And you are constantly making decisions, solving problems, looking for new customers, and improving on what you already have. I know this struggle because I have gone through it all before. Entrepreneurship is not a walk in the park at all. It is not pretty or glamorous. It’s filled with tears, doubt, giving up, disappointment, sleepless nights, running broke and the feeling that you’re not good enough,” he said.
